Stonington Estates Fire - Norwich

Feb 26, 2007 - At 06:38hrs a major fire occured at a condo unit at 102 Stonington Rd in Norwich. Responding units were Norwich, Taftville, East Great Plains,Yantic, Laurel Hill, Tankers from Poquotonock, Preston City, Bozrah and too many more to mention. A great job was done by all the firefighters on scene, it was a great example of good team work that extinguished the fire. 6 firefighters were reported injuried, I personnally only know of two, they were minor in nature and those firefighters are recovering.

Taftville Room and Contents

February 21, 2007 - At 09:22hrs Taftville was dispatched to a structure fire on Norwich Ave. ET-22 responding from a fire prevention detail arrived to find a fire on the 3rd flr. Upgraded alarm assignment added Occum and Yantic FAST. Taftville crews found a room and content fire and made a quick knockdown. Overhaul, vent and salvage operations were then under way. The Norwich FMO and Norwich PD are investigating.

Taftville auto with 2 pinned

February 18, 2007 - at around 03:00hrs Taftville was dispatched to an auto accident with entrapment on Norwich Ave. Units arrived to find a car had hit 5 parked cars at a used auto dealership. Crews started to extricate the victims while american provided patient care. a hoseline was deployed due to an active gas leak from one of the cars. Both patients were extricated from the car and transported ALS to the Backus trauma center. Taftville crews remained on scene for vehicle removal.

East Brooklyn 2nd Alarm

BROOKLYN -- Firefighters from five departments battled a fire late Friday afternoon in a home at 93 Day St.
East Brooklyn firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 4:40 p.m. after neighbors reported seeing smoke coming from the building. Shortly after the first officers arrived, they called for additional apparatus from the Mortlake (Brooklyn) and Danielson departments, and a unit from the Williamsville (Rogers) department. The Atwood Hose Co. of Wauregan and the Dayville departments later were sent to the scene. (Photos used with permission by Williamsville Fire Eng Co)

Thompson Hill Garage Fire

On Tuesday February 6th Thompson Hill Fire along with mutual aid from Community Fire, East Putnam Fire full assignments and Quinebaug and East Thompson as FAST were dispatched for a structure fire at 14 Wrightson Drive in the Quaddick lake area. Upon arrival of Thompson Hill's ET 284 the found a 2 car garage well involved with fire. 1 line was placed in operation and Community Fire Co ET 181 laid 600' of 5" supply line from the lake to the scene and place 2 lines into operation and fed ET 284. Thompson Hills second due engine established a water supply to feed the operation. With 3 lines in operation the main body of fire was knocked down within 10 minutes and crews from the initial alarm companies held the scene for overhaul operation.

East Great Plains - 568 West Thames St

Feb 7, 2006 - At 05:28hrs the East Great Plains FD was dispatched to a house fire with entrapment at 568 West Thames St. EGP car-5 arrived to find a well involved house. All occupants were accounted (10 total) 2 needing EMS transport for undisclosed injuries. Mutual aid companies were City of Norwich, Mohegan Fire Co. and Mohegan Tribal FAST.

Taftville House Fire - 7 Harland Rd

Feb 6, 2007 - At 09:20hrs Taftville was dispatched to a dryer fire at 7 Harland Rd. while units were responding, Norwich fire reported numerous calls being recieved for smoke fromt he back of the house. Units arrived to find a 2 stry colonial with smoke from the rear and side "B" wall. A 2nd Alarm was requesting bring in Yantic, City of Norwich Truck 1, and Mohegan Tribal FAST. Crews found fire on the 1st and 2nd flr. the fire was knocked down in 15 minutes with extensive overhaul. Crews cleared the scene at 13:00hrs. Norwich FMO is investigating. Photos soon.....
